This is the third course of the English language training program at PetroVietnam University. It is intended for students whose current level of English proficiency is B1 . It primarily aims at preparing students with the necessary skills and competence relevant to IELTS attributes.
This course adopts the learner-centered approach and learning-by-doing theories. Assessment is continuous, which allows for a comprehensive view of the extent to which students have met the course objectives and outcomes.
By the end of the course, students should be able to:
Listening |
- have a detailed understanding of specific points or an overall understanding of the main points of conversations between up to four people set in an educational or training context and monologues on an academic subject |
Speaking |
- speak on a topic (e.g. describe an object or an event) within 2 minutes - answer questions relating to the topics above with explanations and examples |
Reading |
- recognize relationships and connections between facts in the text, and recognize opinions and theories. - recognize main ideas or themes in the paragraphs or sections of a text and distinguish main ideas from supporting ones. |
Writing |
- write a full essay to discuss two opposing views, - write a full essay that expresses a clear stance - positive or negative - on a given topic, - write about the advantages or disadvantages of a topic |
